A leisurely Cruise Tour[Straw ring around the Pier]Asakusa
- Stroll in “understand the present by reviewing the past” of Asakusa
- Asakusa is a Shitamachi of Tokyo which strides over Sumidagawa River. On the east side is the world's tallest transmitter tower Tokyo Skytree®, which integrates Japan's most advanced technology as a whole. While on the west side are all kinds of old streets with a long history and culture. This is the Asakusa, the integration of new and old. Only here can you experience the Japanese charm that you cannot experience in other blocks.
After arriving at the port of Asakusa, do not cross the Sumidagawa River. Follow westward along Kaminarimon Boulevard. After passing through the Kamiya Bar founded in Meiji 13rd year and the Owariya Soba Shop established in Meiji 3rd year, you can see Sensoji Temple and Kaminarimon on the right side. Do you know the official name is "Furaijinmon"? Because it is said to be the door guarded by the gods of wind and thunder.
The blue god facing the right side is the God of wind, and the red god on the opposite side is the God of Thunder. Passing through the big lantern in the middle, you will come to one of the oldest commercial street in Japan Asakusa Nakamise Commercial Street in the temple area.On the two sides of the 250-meter commercial street, there are about 90 shops ranging from restaurants to craft shops. If there's a chance, you can experience the hustle and bustle of the Shitamachi culture.
Asakusa Nakamise Commercial Street
It is the only place in Tokyo where you can easily eat all kinds of Japanese classic snacks such as ramie candy, human-shaped baking, Japanese fried steamed bread and so on. In addition, there are traditional Japanese crafts everywhere such as fans, circular fans and Edo Kiriko as well as products full of Japanese style such as handkerchiefs and T-shirts of Ukiyo-e into where modernism is integrated.

After walking through Kaminarimon and passing through the Asakusa Nakamise Commercial Street, you will come to the Hozomon Gate. To the right is the Statue of Nioh made by Kyusaku Muraoka, and to the left is that made by Nishikido Sinkan. The two statues stand there without losing the spectacular momentum of the gods of wind and thunder, which are of great value to visit. Besides, do not miss the big straw sandals used for decoration.
After entering the front of the Hozomon Gate, you can see the hall of the Sensoji Temple and the Five-storied Pagoda on the left. The Sensoji Temple is known as the oldest temple in Tokyo and it is very lively since there are many tourists every year. According to the statistics, there are about 30 million visitors here every year. From the fact that Tokyo has a population of only about 10 million people, it is conceivable that there are so many visitors.
Various seasonal ceremonies held here are all sights that can only be seen in Asakusa, such as sour Physalis Peruviana Market in July, Asakusa Lantern Festival in September, Cock Market in November and Hagoita Market in December. A point to note here is the most popular Sanja Festival in May. Apart from the lively and extraordinary streets, you can also see the gorgeous mikoshi and the newness scenes that are usually not seen such as Kaminarimon big lanterns folded for the mikoshi.

After visiting the Sensoji Temple, you can go straight to the left to enter the Hanayashiki Street. Go along the nostalgic shop, you can see the Asakusa Hanayashiki on the right side. How nostalgic the retro look and the mini-scale Hanayashiki that suddenly appear in the middle of the street is.
Asakusa Hanayashiki, which is known as the oldest amusement park in Japan, was opened in 1853, the same year when Perry's black ship entering Uragaoki. It is obvious of its long history. From the end of the Shogunate to modern times, this amusement park, which is developed together with Japanese history, is very worth seeing!
There are nostalgic recreational facilities that are not common in many modern amusement parks, for example, " roller coasters with the maximum speed of 42 km/h" and "Rowing with a foot Helicopter". This is a special and profound amusement park for old people to remember and young people to experience freshness.
